Photographer Dakota Rivers
"I never met a road I didn't like,"
remarks elusive and quiet Great Plains photographer, Dakota Rivers.
Rivers, a Midwestern teacher most of his life, frequently had unrestricted
vacation time. During this time he meticulously investigated
relatively empty, rural back roads while photographically documenting the
seemingly disappearing, individualistic way of life in what others would
term the "desolate wastelands of the West."
"In all of that vastness," he further
comments, "I also never met a lonely or spiritless person -- only
interesting, literate and friendly people whose dreams, at worst, may have
been only temporarily sidetracked on a lost highway."
Artist Koti Blake
Koti Blake's artworks always seem to have
a touch of nostalgia about them. That is not unusual since she
comments that she likes to invite her viewers to walk down the same path as
she travels, feeling and hoping they would be as happy and comfortable in
the scene as she. "Beauty," says Blake, "is often found in the simple
things, events, and pleasures that occur around us. I love to explore
the interactions between the different basic shapes and colors that surround
our lives and make them meaningful. I also maintain a strong link with
the past, which is also a recurring theme in my work." Koti Blake
takes those ideas and turns them into prints that are frequently alive with
the dynamic force from which memories are carried.
For Koti:
To reduce the problem of theft of our internet
images, the "Koti" or "Dakota" logo appears in each of our
sample illustrations. Additionally, images are set to be viewed
at a low resolution that produces a grainy appearance when enlarged.
However, to preserve the uniqueness, integrity and intrinsic value of
prints for the buyer, each purchased print is completely free of any
imbedded logo. Purchased prints are also visually sharper, with
their colors being more lifelike and vibrant than they appear on the
website.We apologize for this
inconvenience but feel you will be pleased with the visual appearance
and value of the art you receive.
